Cultural death

Author: Ammar Zafarullah

Sir: It was a big step by the Government of Sindh to organize the Sindh Festival in order to exhibit and preserve our cultural legacy. But on the evening of the inauguration, whatever we saw on our television sets was in conflict with the reality. Rap songs, English dance and western style do not represent Sindhi culture. It was so because the organizers of the festival were unaware about the culture of Sindh for having lived out of the country for so long. When it was called a cultural event, it should have been designed as such.
