FIA arrests passport official involved in bribery

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency raided the Directorate of Passport and Immigration Malir office on Friday and arrested on Official red-handed involved in issuing Passport against bribe.

According to the details a team of FIA Anti Human Trafficking Circle Karachi Conducted a successful trap raid at Regional passport office Malir Karachi and arrested passport officer Tanveer Ahmed with tainted money under the supervision of Additional Director.Jawed Iqbal Rehmani and Station House officer of the circle.

Sources revealed that FIA officials had credible information along with a written complaint from a victim of the corruption at Regional passport office Malir . The corrupt Mafia was creating difficulties for citizens while processing their passport applications just to seek money.

Despite tall claims of efforts and enquiries against corrupt practices in Passport offices, some officers are still managing to successfully avail bribe from needy people.

A case Fir No 165/17 has been registered against him and others under the section of 161/109 PPC r/w 5(2) PCA Act-II 1947, Si.Sheikh Suhail Mehmood was entrusted for further investigation in the subject case and to make efforts to arrest the remaining involved accused because in initial investigation it has established there was a whole network that was being run including other officers and private agents.

More arrests were expected in coming days, sources informed.
