Education in Sindh

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Education is the backbone of the nation. Without education man cannot be civilised. Education is a basic need and right of every human being. Unfortunately education in our country, especially in Sindh, is declining every day.

Low literacy rates and the poor quality of education are the major drawbacks of the Sindh educational system. Education in Sindh is influenced by a number of factors that cause this regression. Some of them are more prominent, such as low enrollment and high dropout rate at the primary level, different standards of education, low budget allocation for the education sector, political interference, low quality of curricula and textbooks, rapid growth in population, poverty and unemployment, poor quality of teachers, and our substandard evaluation system.

Although the Sindh government claims bold steps have been taken to overcome these problems, there is still much room for improvement.
