The Thar tragedy — II

Author:

Sir: The Thar tragedy is another glaring example of our elite rulers’ bad governance and disconnect from the people. It is so sad that the chief minister of Sindh, instead of taking responsibility for the death of over 100 innocent children, is blaming the bureaucracy. I would like to ask the chief minister what the food and health ministers’ functions and responsibilities are. Every thoughtful Pakistani knows that the political landscape of rural Sindh is dominated by vaderas (landlords) whose majority is in the PPP, which is ruling Sindh. These people will never allow the deprived masses of Pakistan to hold their destiny in their own hands.
