Sir: It has been almost two weeks and the situation in Thar is still not much better. Relief work in the urban parts of Tharparkar is proceeding apace, but the residents of remote rural areas still suffer from extreme shortage of food and are waiting for aid to arrive. The main reason for this famine and drought is nothing other than negligence by the Pakistani government, especially the Sindh government, which didn’t take actions in order to alleviate the poverty of Thar initially. The Sindh government was busy celebrating cultural festivals instead of providing help to children who were dying in their mother’s laps because their parents had no food, water or medicines to save their lives.
