Sir: There are not many moments when one finds something to criticise about the aesthetic appearance of Islamabad. Recently however, there has been a rise in the number of obscene drawings and aimless scribbles on buildings and signboards in the city. The condition of sector H-8 is especially shocking. The sector is home to quite a few families, the majority of whom have school-going children. When taking the Jafar Khan Jamali road, people complain about seeing a number of signboards with immoral images spray painted on them. This is especially problematic because the signboards are there for regulation of traffic that accumulates due to the numerous schools situated near the area. Essentially it is the CDA’s job to prevent the desecration of buildings and signboards, which now stand as a testament to its inefficiency in this regard. Many people now believe (and rightly so) that the areas they live in are overshadowed by the more luxurious F and G sectors. The difference in development is obvious when one drives from I-8 to F-7. It is the government’s duty to develop each sector of Islamabad equally. Therefore, matters like the desecration of signboards in H-8 should be urgently dealt with.
