Will we remain a mystery?

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The mystery of the missing Malaysian airliner has come to an end, leaving many people in deep gloom and sadness. The airplane ended in the Indian Ocean with no survivors. The news was a shock for the relatives of the passengers but still the analysis of satellite data fails to indicate how the plane veered so far. This news has also brought some ease for Pakistan as the Malaysian authorities were suspecting Pakistan as having something to do with the missing plane. The mystery ends, leaving behind many questions regarding Pakistan’s reputation. It shows that the reputation of Pakistan has been completely cursed internationally. On March 23 this year, we celebrated Pakistan Day by making a world record of the national anthem but we failed to understand what Pakistan really needs. Pakistan does not need these world records but needs to be the best in the world. For this we need to remember the precious words of our Quaid: “Pakistan will become prosperous and stronger if we serve honestly and selflessly.”

While practically we are far away from these words of the Quaid, in reality we are working against them. This is a country where the downtrodden majority continues to suffer while the well-off minority enjoys all privileges. In this country, parents are killing their children over poverty. This is a country in which we are creating differences within ourselves. We have failed to end the war within our country so how can we work to fix our reputation at the international level? It seems our identity is just like that missing plane, which was lost after the death of our Quaid. The plane has been recovered but what about us? When will we recover from all of this? Or will we remain a mystery too?
