Sir: This refers to the news recently published in the print media about the initiatives being undertaken in different villages of Tharparkar by the students of Institute of Communication and Media Studies of Ziauddin University Karachi. Just when the feeling hits about this nation heading nowhere, a light suddenly emerges and illuminates the path ahead. Despite all the issues, the passion of the young generation to work for a better future never depletes.
We always talk about the uselessness of the young generation. We consider them directionless and worth nothing for their disinterest in studies or book reading. What we actually fail to assess is that these children have been lacking a role model, the right kind of teachers, inspiring scholars showing them the path to success. The elders easily absolve themselves of their duties by condemning the youngsters for their inconsistent lifestyle.
When the famine struck Thar, a number of medical relief camps were set up to help the natives. But the students of Ziauddin University engaged the Tharis and became a booster for their sagging courage and the desire to live again.
