Save marriages

Author:

Sir: Here is another issue we need to highlight, which is that marriages are not working these days. Why are the rates of separation and divorce increasing? Why are married couples unable to solve their differences and why are they not ready to walk together on a middle way? What is the reason that married people in our society are not ready to compromise with their spouses? In search of answers to these questions, I have come to realise that every individual thinks that he is right and the other person is at fault, which causes both the parties to step back from resolving the issue. This attitude works as a matchstick to set fire to the sacred relationship, which results in chaos. We have become so independent; we believe that we really do not need anybody in this race of life. The girls of our society have gained so much education that this asset instead of serving in a good way is changing the perspective of girls to thinking that they do not need to rely on their man, since if their relationship is not working they can live on their own. The ego factor is yet another hurdle. We are so keen to get higher education and what is this education resulting in? Making us more prone to the wrong? Instead of taking every possible step to save their marriages, girls and boys are ready to quit at the first misunderstanding of their married life. We are actually not ready to compromise. We have become mean and rigid. Another thing that should be observed is that before marriage, the girl is usually interested in someone else, but regardless of her choice she is married to a man who is himself interested in some other woman. How on earth will they be able to cope with each other? This ends up in extra-marital affairs that put an end to married life. Our media should take some positive steps to help our youth in this regard.
