A murder most foul

Author:

Sir: Another member of the Ahmedi community, Dr Mehdi Ali, has been killed in a target attack in Rabwah, Pakistan. Mehdi Ali was a cardiologist based in Ohio whose sole purpose behind visiting Pakistan was humanitarian: to serve heart patients in Rabwah. Dr Mehdi was shot outside a graveyard while he was paying his respects, along with his family, to his dead relatives. Who knew that this would be his last visit?

I do not expect the government to do anything to punish the killers as it is politically allied with the religious extremist parties. I feel immense pain and sorrow at this tragedy, which is not the first of its kind in Pakistan. It is heart wrenching that Mehdi Ali’s wife and young children had to see his martyrdom. It is deplorable that the murderers felt no remorse while killing him and that too in front of his young children whose innocent minds have been traumatised for life.
