Sir: The patience being displayed by the government in combating terrorism is in the larger interest of the nation. Unfortunately, this is being misunderstood.

Some criticise the government for being afraid of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Others claim the government is pro-Taliban. There is another question about whether the dialogue process implies the government is ready to write off the killing of 50,000 people.

I have a question: are we ready to sacrifice another 50,000 people?

Suppose the government opts for a full-fledged operation, have any of the critics realised the repercussions of that decision? A huge migration of displaced people will take place one more time like in the previous operations.

Those who criticise will not let these refugees enter their province. Great nations win without fighting. We have seen the implications of the military operation. Is it necessary to make the same mistake again, or is it better to go for some new options?

Let us learn from the lessons of the past and give peace a chance.
