The return of Qadri

Author:

Sir: a majority of Muslims are predisposed to respect religious leaders and similarly expect them to live up to the expected standards. The recent statement by the highly respected and widely followed Dr Tahir ul Qadri is hilariously funny and extremely illogical. He said that in the event of any attack on his life or property, the prime minister of Pakistan and the chief minister Punjab should be held responsible. Can we ridicule our national leadership more than this, sitting abroad? Have the people of Pakistan elected hit-men by mistake on the positions of responsibility? Mr Qadri, a Canadian citizen, belongs to a particular religious school of thought that is already under threat. I think he is vulnerable to attacks, therefore I request him to please stay in his country of citizenship and spare Pakistan from further embarrassments.
