Courts’ closure

Author:

Sir: What our country lacks is timely justice. In simple words we need ‘supremacy of law’, something even dictators failed to introduce or enforce. People who are not influential need instant justice.

Can a country with all constraints and lack of rule of law afford two months closure of courts as summer vacations, something which is exclusively for schoolchildren? Knowing well that thousands of cases are pending decision for ages, despite being a senior citizen, I feel like an infant in this field having filed a case with the Islamabad High Court four years ago.

The people who are experienced in dealing with court cases have been waiting in line for justice for decades. The new chief justice should put an end to the two-month-long closure of courts and concentrate on pending cases as top priority. As they say, justice delayed is justice denied.
