Sir: India has a population close to 1.2 billion people, six times more than Pakistan’s and has managed to eradicate polio. On the other hand, here in Pakistan we are attacking and killing polio workers and the policemen that accompany them for protection.
It is unfortunate that the people who are doing the killings do not fully understand the crippling effects of polio on children and the devastating effect it has on parents. How can people who so strongly believe in the Shariat want a child to live a life where she/he cannot run and play like other children? What is worse is that the majority seems to be meekly accepting the dictates of those who apparently do not understand better.
