The hill station of Ayubia

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I have recently visited Ayubia. I was indeed happy to read road signs for all the visitors to take care of the surrounding nature, keep the pathways clean, protect wildlife, not smoke or light any fires along the tracks and things like that. Whenever I read such a sign I was doubly motivated to do so as the place is beautiful and I should be one of those to add to its beauty.
However, I do wish to make all aware of what the locals are doing. In most of the natural drains where the rainwater drains down the hills, there is lots of litter thrown about. On one of the tracks that leads to a church more than 100 years old, so much litter is thrown about that one does not want to walk there. People are discouraged to continue their hike to the beautiful church. At one part of the track the soil has eroded and trees have fallen. Why did this occur? There is a lot of plastic and disposable cutlery that block the rain water from flowing, preventing some of it from being absorbed by the soil.
I request the authorities to take action against those who are committing this crime against nature and who are spoiling their own beautiful resort, to get them to clean up all the dirt they have strewn about, to restore the track that leads to the church. The church too needs renovation and restoration. For that I request the church authorities to look into this matter and do something for the good of this place of worship.
