Sir: Turbat, being the biggest city of Makran, is facing a number of problems such as street crime, traffic issues and poor infrastructure. Most of the people from the rural areas visit Turbat on a daily basis to seek livelihoods and face many issues in commuting to and fro owing to dilapidated roads and bridges.
Moreover, the lack of quality educational institutions in Turbat is the biggest issue because without education no nation can survive or thrive. The Turbat University today does not have enough classrooms or furniture to accommodate all the students who are enrolled there. The building of the university is under construction but, interestingly, it has collapsed twice while it was being constructed.
When Dr Abdul Malik Baloch became chief minister, the people of Turbat hoped that he would bring about reform in the education system and resolve the city’s many social problems. But none of that seems to have come to pass.
The provincial government, in collaboration with the federal government, should take concrete steps to overhaul the education system in Turbat and in the rest of Balochistan.
