KWSB terminates its chief security officer

KARACHI: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has terminated the services of Chief Security Officer, a two years contract post in basic pay scale-18, on pretext of going abroad without taking any formal leave from the entity, Mahmood Qadir, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Human and Research Department of KWSB informed.

“The entity is now taking interviews from the desirous persons for this vacant post and so far has interviewed four applicants in this regard”, he maintained.

The credentials of these applicants are being scrutinized by a four-member committee and soon the right person for this job is selected, KWSB would reveal the name.

Colonel (retd) Masood-ul-Husain, Lf Colonel (retd) Jawad Ahmed,

Lt Colonel (retd) Arshad Ali, Commodore (retd) Imran Akram Shaikh (SI) (M) and Commander (retd) Sheer Akbar have so far been interviewed, Mashkoorul Hasan, DMD Planning and Finance department, who is also the head of interview committee stated.

The terminated official, Major (retd) Nawaz Gondal in response on the matter, said that one year was left of his contract and verbally he had informed his immediate head about going to perform Umrah.

He alleged, “This action has been taken because I have been a major obstacle in the way of water tanker mafia and land mafia”.

During the tenure of my service, I had conducted several raids on illegal built hydrants and water connections in parts of city.

Several officials of the entity had also reservations on discharging of my duty with diligence, Gondal remarked.

Earlier Major (retd) Jawad Jaffari, Major (retd) Iftikhar Zaidi and Colonel (retd) Ahtesham-uddin have served on this post of KWSB.
