Aneesa Sharif Saddique is an Instagram influencer, British Pakistani model, and public figure with over 125,000 followers. Recently, she has been receiving messages from people impersonating her and using her photos to scam others. Aneesa took to Instagram to share her story of being impersonated by multiple accounts on the social media platform. in a series of stories, she appealed to Instagram for help in getting these accounts removed and also spoke about the difficulties she faces with verification and authentication on the platform. According to Aneesa, she has been trying to get verified on Instagram for over two years now. However, her requests have been repeatedly denied. This has led to a number of problems for her, including people impersonating her and using her image without her permission.
Aneesa told a news agency that “After appealing to Instagram to suspend the impersonation accounts, the accounts were taken by the META company but after few days it started again”. Being a public figure the META parent company Instagram should protect the VVIP accounts. Instagram AI algorithm also needs to be fixed so the verification request gets easily done. Aneesa told the journalists that I am featured in international news websites, magazines, and newspapers, and has Wikipedia but the algorithm of Instagram deny the request for the past two years, She told this to a news agency while discussing her upcoming “Creator Videos Program” in which she will share with her audience how we can say our story to the world through the “Reels” and she will talk with the audience about her upcoming fashion event.
Aneesa revealed that when she faced the impersonation she talk to a few media agencies and shared the story as well. She was reached out to by many people who were claiming that they can verify her Instagram account. Aneesa said that Instagram never asks for money to verify anyone’s account so she knew that people gonna scam her, she exposes some of the people on Instagram and from there she was harassed and targeted by scammers. They made fake profiles in her name and defamed her through “Impersonation”. Aneesa told her audience that she has only one account which she uses by herself without having any PR management. She is now appealing to the social media platform for help in verifying her account and stopping the impersonation attempts. Sharif says that she is worried about the safety of her followers and wants to make sure that they are not being scammed by someone pretending to be her.
