Sir: The heat in the political environment precipitated by Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan needs to be pacified forthwith by some sane political actors. As August 11 has drawn to a close, people’s apprehensions are increasing. Pakistan is already facing a plethora of problems. On the one hand, terrorists are posing threats to the common man and, on the other, politicians are playing their cards to their own benefit.
Veteran politicians like Shujaat Hussain and many defeated forces have now joined hands to overthrow a government elected through the democratic process. This is illogic and unfair. As far as the performance of the government is concerned, one must give some latitude and space to the PML-N to sail free in troubled waters.
One year is a very short period to assess the performance of a government in a developing country. Those who could not perform during their long dictatorial regimes are now posing to be flag-bearers of democracy. What a shame!
The mob, before leaving home, must consider what is the agenda of these agents of change (Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri) and how they will save this country from sinking deeper into crisis. Creating chaos is no solution to any problem. Wisdom, perseverance and goal achievement with an iron will are the need of the hour.
