Labour rates

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The labour rate in Pakistan is Rs 400 per day, i.e. Rs 12,000 per month. In the US the labour rate is approximately Rs 8,000 per day, i.e. Rs 240,000 per month. Labour rates in Pakistan should be at least Rs 50,000 per month so that a working person could lead a relatively comfortable life.

The reason why the US has progressed is because it treats its labour with dignity and consequently has better labour laws compared to Pakistan where the labourer is treated as a slave. In Pakistan people are paid only as much in which he could feed his family, that too after he has worked round the clock.
The conclusion is that when we will pay our labourer well, his standard of living will improve and we will have a better Pakistan.
