Sir: Despite every effort made by the Ministry of Health to eradicate polio, polio cases are increasing day by day across the country. In this context the establishment of Emergency Operation Centre for polio eradication by the Punjab Directorate General Health Services is appreciable. This centre will monitor the efforts made under the National Polio Emergency Plan, and will also ensure coverage of anti-polio campaigns to improve accessibility to the immunization programme. The centre will also collect and evaluate the data of IDPs, to monitor the immunization of their children. Keeping in view the efforts of the Punjab health sector, governments in other provinces should follow suit, and take precautionary measures to save our children from perennial paralysis.
