Sir: Pakistan does not have a democracy. There is aristocracy but no democracy at all. Having civilian rulers who are notorious for their autocratic thoughts and actions, does not make a democracy. Indeed, democracy is about the provision of and protection of human rights. It is not simply a process of putting papers in ballot boxes either voluntarily or by force. Those who rule us, those who represent us, do not provide us the fundamental human rights enshrined and guaranteed in our constitution. Instead, they make every effort to keep us deprived and denied.
