US Liberty Medal

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I think it is great news for Pakistan that our very own Malala Yusufzai after winning the Nobel Peace Prize earlier this month has now received the US Liberty Medal and pledged $ 100,000 for education in Pakistan. Not only has that brought great honour to the nation but most importantly the cause for which this money will be spent is worth celebrating. If there is one thing that our society badly needs to counter terrorism and poverty it is education. It is simply due to a lack of proper education that the country lags behind the world both intellectually and economically. I sincerely hope that all the money will actually be spent towards the cause it was given for.
