CNG problems in Pakistan

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Successive regimes in our country have created policies that touch new heights of absurdity each time. The ill-planned and poorly thought out decisions they make leave everyone wondering what logic they used when the decision was made. The people who suffer from this poor planning are obviously the poor people of Pakistan. Officials first promoted using CNG among the public as if our land were filled with natural gas. Once most transporters shifted to CNG, it became apparent that due to the scarcity of gas, we need to minimise its use. Now CNG stations are shutting down everywhere. The problem is not how the country will function without CNG –obviously people will manage — but what policy makers were thinking when they first promoted it? Clearly, since they are not punished for their foolishness they feel they can play with the country time and again.
