High expectations

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Life is not only a tough passage rather it is the accomplishment of necessities. Man’s life becomes very challenging because of his having his own expectations. Every one of us wants a prosperous and quality life. Man is very curious and hasty, expeditious and swift. We make castles in the air but sometimes these pillars fall down on us. Life may be a struggle and filled with achievements but to venture to make decisions and take steps is the real substance of life. This leads to our destiny, though sometimes it causes injuries. We fight with ourselves whether it is fruitful or not. We fear public comments or some compulsion from parents or society. In fact we are terrified within our psychological barriers. This could be because of a lack of confidence or not getting any support from our patrons. We also want to transfer our duties to others. We wish to be different from others but simultaneously do not want to come within the gaze of the community. We do many things but behind the curtain. We lack the courage to take daring steps. We are afraid from childhood to death in every achievement, in every relationship, in all the business of life. We desire to march forward but suppress our courage. Sometimes continuous failure and a lack of confidence break our disembodied spirit. Though some people believe that failures and errors are the path towards some distinguished result, this does not seem to be the reality. Lack of confidence and high expectations do not take stock of opportunity. This type of flawed personality leads to fear that is followed by failure. Consecutive failures after having high expectations lead to the way of destruction, which is obviously not good. In Pakistan we tend to have very high expectations of ourselves, our families and our society, sometimes unfairly. When we are unable to meet them, we blame ourselves and the cycle repeats. From independence till today we have achieved a great deal and while we have many problems we should not let our own high expectations overcome us. That is the path of frustration and failure.
