KHYBER AGENCY: At least five people were killed in a bomb blast in Khyber Agency’s Tirah valley on Monday, security sources said.

Five volunteers of a peace committee were killed when a remote-controlled bomb went off near a vehicle in Tirah valley’s Akakhel area, the, security sources added.

Rescue teams and security forces arrived soon after reports of the bombing, security sources said.

The Army had launched operation Raddul Fasaad in February following a new wave of terror attacks in the country which claimed more than a hundred lives.

The operation seeks to eliminate the residual threat of terrorism, consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security conditions of the country.

Hundreds of suspected terrorists have either been killed or arrested in raids carried out by security personnel since the start of operation.
