Insecure VIP

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I was very sorry and upset to read that a number of students and their parents could not attend the convocation ceremony due to special security placed at the IBA campus to protect alumnus Mamnoon Hussain, a VIP, the chief guest who happens to be the President of Pakistan.

A convocation is a major milestone in a person’s life. Parents travel across the world to share this moment of joy with their children.

Instead of apologising to the affected students, the heartless comment of the dean and director, “It’s unfortunate. But they have been awarded their degrees in absentia and they can take them from the IBA later”, while the ‘friendsk in the media got their “I’m sorry.”

The moral of this sad incident: invite VIPs, Very Important Persons as your chief guests but avoid inviting VIPs (Very Insecure Persons) who are best left securely caged within their palaces!
