Sir: I am a working mother who has run from pillar to post to enable my child to receive a quality education. I tried admitting him in a government school but I have decided against it as the school I went to is nothing better than a ghost school: a building with no substance. I have now put my son in a private school and almost my entire month’s wages are now spent in paying his monthly school fees. I dread receiving his school bill every quarter, knowing that if there are any extra costs I might not be able to make ends meet.
We should be able to give our children quality education at subsidised rates but we pay through our nose instead. I implore the government to please make public education better, to think about the future of this nation and to take back our rights from the private sector.
