ANTONIO MARRAS — the former Kenzo designer showcased an eye-pleasing array of painterly prints, while also offering up a masterclass in colour mixing. These plaid co-ords manage to be both bold and perfectly able to blend in all at once.
KRISTINA FIDELSKAYA — the Dubai-based designer showcased her first Resort collection at this year’s Arab Fashion Week, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We’re particularly taken with a wispy lavender gown – with its almost rustic draping and ethereal colour palette, it had a modern Midsummer Night’s Dream feel that we’re enchanted by. A voluminous strapless number wowed with its midnight-blue hue, feather light silk organza and sprinkling of almost cherry-blossom-esque embroidery. This matching mummy-and-daughter combo won us over with its inspired pairing of fancy froth and Left-Bank cool.
MARCHESA — the womenswear label beloved by Hollywood paraded a dazzling array of its Autumn/Winter 17 bridal gowns down the catwalk, serving up a hearty dose of otherworldly whimsy. Delicate textures dominated the collection, with this feather-dusted fishtailed gown being among the night’s most Instagram-worthy offerings. Simple silhouettes in crisp whites added a contemporary elegance to proceedings.
MICHAEL CINCO — the Dubai-based designer’s been dazzling in Cannes and his catwalk display closer to home provided just as much star power. The collection – titled Impalpable Dream of The Maharaja – was rich in a vibrant purple-blue hue, while the silhouettes were kept clean but regal. The fit-and-flare number on the right is especially mesmerising, with its shiny fabric and restrained touch of froufrou.
RAD HOURANI — The show opened on Tuesday with Jordanian-Canadian sensation Rad Hourani, known for his unisex designs. Hourani sent his models down the catwalk in geometric, binary-transcending designs “based on style preference rather than gender”, with men, women and gender non-conforming models in layers of dark boiled wool and poplin, and all in pastel slip-on shoes.
