Sir: I want to convey the ordeal of the Houbara Bustard in its own words, which are as follows: “Dear Muhammad Ali Jinnah, my name is Houbara Bustard. I do not claim but people call me a beautiful bird. I am so old in this land that I have become the identity of this land. I am beauty, I am nature and I am fauna. But I have no place in this land. The voracious locals and foreigners are making me the fire of their gluttony bellies. Dear Quaid, the representatives of this land have tabled many bills in the respective assemblies but those bills are nothing more than part of the dustbins. Some of the dignified courts too have taken notice but all in vain. Merchants from the Arabian Peninsula are causing my genocide along with local puppet traders. I am already on the verge of extinction. I have very small children. They are under psychological pressure due to the fear of human guns. They are forgetting their pleasures and joyous activities. They are even unable to have their little flying practice. On the one hand, forests are going to be cut lavishly and on the other we are going to be massacred along with many other extinct and gorgeous species of nature. We are already in distress at the butchery of naïve school children and other populace of this country. Do you know, the day the angels of Army Public School Peshawar were attacked, we bitterly wept along with our children? In our manifesto, even the children of enemies are flowers. After a detailed meeting at night when representatives of humanity were in deep slumber, we have concluded that there are concrete links between our hunters and hunters of the school children and other fellow humans. We have the same enemy disguised in many facets. Dear Quaid, can you please save me, my children and my generations? I promise we will remain loyal to this land. We will not harm the crops. We will abide by our promises because we are not humans. We are nature and nature keeps its word.”
