Showing some ethics

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Imran Khan’s marriage to prominent BBC weathergirl Reham Khan has made waves among the public. Making it a low-key affair, with absolutely no extravagance despite the outpouring of demands from his followers, was a good omen for the oppressed majority of this country. Sections of the media played a terrible role throughout the event by exaggerating everything, fuelling conspiracies about Mr and Mrs Khan, their families and the new bride’s character.

Social media frenzy has been very effective in the character assassination of the new couple. Abhorrent propaganda about the duo has been very hurtful. We need to learn how to show values and morals in our views rather than indulging in muckraking of popular figures. A code of ethics is imperative for both sections of the media to avoid such absurdity.
