Security of schools

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The government has tightened the security of schools after the Peshawar military school tragedy, which shook the entire nation. It has issued a check list for enhancing and ensuring the security of public and private schools. A general perception is that parents and children do not feel safe going to their academic institutions. Parents and teachers have to play a pivotal role in removing the fear factor so that children can pay full attention to their studies. The educational institutions are facing two types of concerns, one from the government, and the other from the parents. School administrations must monitor security to make their students secure from any threat. We cannot afford any negligence in this respect under the current circumstances prevalent in the country. We must ensure and create a conducive atmosphere fit for academic pursuits. We must bring them towards normalcy.
