Sir: I study in a well-reputed college. Recently, I attended a parent teacher meeting where I was astonished to see the reaction of one of the parents. He was shouting and blaming and disrespecting a teacher because his son had not passed the midterm examination. On that day I realized that children are a reflection of their families. How can parents expect their children to be well-mannered, disciplined and respectful when these innocent souls have never seen such things? I fear that these golden principles might vanish.

In this modern era, where we are lagging far behind in the fields of science and technology, we are distancing ourselves from our ethics and moral values too. The reason behind my writing this letter is to remind parents that their first priority for their children should be moral values and good character rather than good grades. If the parents themselves will not respect the person worthy of respect, what else can we possibly expect from their children?
