Sino-Pak relations

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was given a warm reception in Pakistan. He was conferred the Hilal-e-Pakistan award and a number of ceremonies were arranged in his honour. The people of Pakistan are always emotional, warm hearted and full of brotherly feelings for China. Indeed, Sino-Pak relations are deep-rooted and irreplaceable. Cordial friends are narrowing down the minor gap between the two nations through the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The new narrative of international politics in the region after the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan demands more and comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two nations. The maintenance of strategic balance in South Asia is the most urgent need of the time, not only for Pakistan but also for China. To meet these challenges, both countries are keen, active and eager to extend the level of commitment and cooperation. Both sides agreed to reform the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) but with consensus and in conformity with its charter. Any party or state that denies the UNSC resolutions on any issue, lacks the moral and political justification to be a member of the UNSC. In the present security situation in Pakistan, this visit enhanced the confidence of the government in Pakistan and trust between the two nations. The most awaited visit of President Xi Jinping next month would further explore new horizons of cooperation and friendship. No wonder this bonhomie of real and time tested allies is higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans.
