Problems of jobseekers

Author: Daily Times Monitor

Sir: In April 2014, some vacancies in Grade-17 were advertised by the Local Council Board Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in leading daily newspapers. The screening test for the said positions was conducted through the National Testing Service (NTS) and the result was declared within a week. NTS charged a Rs 500 test processing fee against each application for a single post. Thousands of candidates applied for the said positions and travelled from far and wide for taking the test. The poor unemployed candidates had to spend a lot of money for the process with the hope that after the screening test, the positions would be filled soon after the interviews of shortlisted candidates. However, even after one year, no interviews have been conducted for the said positions. The matter was brought to the notice of Inayatullah Khan, the Senior Minister for Local Government KP, who assured that the recruitment process would be accelerated and all formalities to fill the vacant positions would be completed. However, he could not live up to his word. It has been learnt that the Local Council Board has cancelled the said positions without assigning any reason and wasted the money of the poor unemployed candidates. Now once again, the Local Council Board has advertised some vacancies in (BPS-11) and the screening test would be conducted by NTS. It is requested that the candidates should be updated on the recruitment status of the last advertised positions (BPS-17) of April 2014 and interviews conducted for those so that the unemployed youth may have confidence on the transparency in the recruitment process of the Local Council Board. Apart from this, the selection criteria should also be mentioned for recruitment, duly mentioning the weightage for academics, test and interview marks on the website of NTS and Local Government and Rural Development Department of KP for ensuring transparency so that no doubts arise in the minds of those candidates who have applied for the said positions. It is hoped that Senior Minister Local Government and Rural Development KP would take action on why interviews have not been conducted till now despite one year having passed.
