Sir: According to news reports, a new case of polio was detected recently. After detection of this case, the number of polio cases has reached 19 in the country. It is sad to admit that almost all the countries of the world have defeated this disease except Pakistan, Afganistan and Nigeria. Polio is highly infectious, which not only paralyses an individual but causes a stigma to the nation. The health department needs to introduce effective strategies to combat this disease as soon as possible.
