Sir: According to the Federal Public Service Commission’s policy, general recruitment tests comprise subjects like English, Everyday Science, Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs and Islamiat. It becomes hard for religious minority candidates to tackle such tests as they do not have knowledge of Islamiat in depth. As a result of this, many minority candidates remain unable to show their mettle in the tests and in this way they have been deprived of their right to compete on an equal footing due to the imposition of Islamiat on them. In the Central Superior Services examination, there exists a rule that it is up to the will of a concerned minority candidate whether he opts for Islamiat or not. If not, then marks obtained in Pakistan Affairs are considered as a substitute for Islamiat. The policy regarding this matter needs serious consideration and must be revisited.
