Nation divided into sects

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Today Pakistan has been divided into a number of sects on the basis of caste and creed. Unfortunately, people here are referred to as Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan or Seraiki instead of being called Pakistani. It would not be wrong to say that this conflict has been fuelled by the political parties that are apparently trying to make the conditions of Pakistan better. Each sect is trying to impose its opinions on the other and in doing so they are actually drenching this nation in absolute darkness. We should never forget that Pakistan was formed on the basis of our religion. It was the time when we had stood together and fought for our freedom. Then how can we let the external forces divide us now? Pakistan does not need a military takeover; all it needs is a united, harmonious and frictionless nation.
