Saudi insanity

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Who do the Saudis think we are? Whilst we may have proved time and again that we are the ‘rent-an-army state’, the Arab sheikhs must really think very little of us if they believe that in the middle of our internal war against the Taliban we would be willing to send our troops to fight their battles! There is no contention at all about how much the Saudis despise us as individuals with the kind of treatment meted out to Pakistanis on Saudi soil; we are discriminated against and thought little of.
Whatever the Arabs say and however they feel, it is good we have told them we want no part in an assault against another country. The Arab backlash against us ought to open our eyes and help us steer our way more carefully when it comes to picking sides in regional relationship building.
