Cool decisions

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The government of Pakistan has taken two commendable steps to check the monopoly of existing local car manufacturers. Firstly the government has refused to accept the demand of the local car makers to impose a ban on the import of used cars. Secondly, the government has decided to introduce a tariff protection plan for a period of five to seven years to the new entrants in the automobile manufacturing sector. The ultimate result of these anti-monopoly decisions is going to be a healthy competition and reduction in the prices of automobiles, which will prove to be beneficial for the people of Pakistan.
