Cleaning up the mess

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Pakistan is in a mess and the masses are looking toward the establishment to save the country from the corrupt and incompetent politicians. Our rulers do not have the will and ability to depoliticise the police force, reform the administrative structure and implement the National Action Plan. I think an army takeover is not a solution to overcome the prevailing crisis. The Supreme Court of Pakistan should declare the 2013 election null and void and issue an order for the establishment of a caretaker government comprising honest and competent professionals who should first hold the local government elections by reforming the Election Commission of Pakistan because the present political system has failed to serve the people. The caretaker government should have enough time to clean up the mess and reform the systems of education, health, etc. It is a paradox that despite having rich natural resources and hardworking people, Pakistan is suffering from poverty.
