Pensioners’ grievance

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The properties of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) are being transferred to a foreign company as per the share purchase agreement signed between M/S Etisalat and the government of Pakistan. The concerned ministers need to be reminded that the rights of company employees are protected through the same agreement and the government is a guarantor to safeguard their rights.

As the worthy ministers for finance and privatisation are already supervising the whole process to recover the outstanding dues from the M/S Etisalat, it is requested that the increase in pension and medical allowance may please be recovered from the company. These amounts have been pending for the last five years. A total of 40,000 old and sick pensioners including 15,000 widows are waiting for the restoration of their legitimate right even after clear verdicts from the apex court.
