Karaciites to celebrate Eidul Azha with religious fervor today

Published on: September 12, 2016 7:38 PM

KARACHI: All is set for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha in Karachi today with religious fervor and enthusiasm.

The day will begin with special prayers in mosques for the peace and progress of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah. The city residents have prepared themselves to offer Eid prayers in the morning.

There are large congregations to be held in the city for Eid prayers. After offering the Eid prayers, the faithful will sacrifice animals to mark the 10th of Zilhaj.

Eid-ul-Azha is the Festival of Sacrifice to be celebrated at the end of the Haj pilgrimage to Makkah and it commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (A.S.) readiness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to Allah.

There are 3143 Masajid, 207 Imam bargahs, 34 Ismaili or Bohra community, 439 Eid congregations where the Eid prayers would be offered and 222 places where combined sacrifices of the animals would take place as well as 794 camps of hides collection.

The provincial government has chalked out special security arrangements across the province, especially for Karachi on the Eid-ul-Azha to avert any untoward incident.

The Civic administration in different cities and towns of the province has also made special arrangements for the disposal of offal and other waste generated during the slaughtering of animals.

The ‘litmus test’ of new Sindh Chief Syed Murad Ali Shah has started on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha on managing and monitoring of the administration in the disposal of offal and other animal remains across the province.

On the other hand, Karaciites have doubts over the quick disposal of offal and other animal remains by the newly elected members of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) across the metropolis on the eve Eid-ul-Azha.

They were opined that huge pile of garbage is still lying in the densely populated areas of the city as the local administration has so far failed to handle the garbage disposal efficiently how could they (Local Government) remove such a highly rotten parts of animals.

The residents of the densely populated areas of city including Orangi, Korangi, New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Lyari, Lines Area, Mehmoodabadand and some other localities are hyped with piles of garbage at different locations so how can a newly elected city government be able to remove animal’s remains in a quick manner.

KMC has made final arrangements in all six districts for the lifting of the offal and cleanliness of their respective areas during Eid-ul-Azha.

In this regard, about 5,982 vehicles, 370 dumpers, 258 loaders, 23 trenches were dig and around 15,285 laborers have been hired to take part in offal disposal operation across the city during three days of Eid-ul-Azha. KMC has divided the city in 18 zones, 216 union councils, 74 collection points and have dug 23 trenches for dumping the offal.

The violence are looming in the city, particularly over the hides’ collection of the sacrificial animals. The Karachi police have chalked out a comprehensive plan to maintain law and order situation during Eid-ul-Azha.

The Karachi police have made a comprehensive plan and 16,150 police contingents will be deployed to guard worship places besides enforcing effective patrolling in various areas of the city.
