Rules to eliminate negativity

Sir: A positive attitude can have a massive effect on the productivity of a team. Most of the problems in a team have a common origin i.e. the attitude of denial. The attitude of denial has in no means anything to do with conflicting ideas and different perceptions of the members. Every person has a unique mindset and that has to be valued. What need to be avoided are the default settings of withdrawal and aggression in a member.

First, the members of other teams are only going to confide in you if you make them feel comfortable and respected. Your tone should be empathetic and your body language, welcoming.

Second, in a pyramidal body of a society, the positivity flows from the top to the bottom. The managerial team must lead by example not by force.

Thirdly, keep your team informed about what’s happening in the organisation, as well as within the team. The more open and transparent you are, the easier it will be to build trust and create good relationships.

Fourth, every society has people who have a negativity bias. Instead of draining your positive energy on eliminating their negativity, it will be more productive to orient yours in the right direction and on the right people who strive hard to work for the progress of the society.
