Rangers kill ‘Baba Ladla’, 2 gangsters in operation

KARACHI: Three suspected persons including a ‘most wanted’ criminal namely Noor Muhammed alias Baba Ladla have been killed while two others fled away after an encounter of Rangers with the culprits at Lyari here on early Thursday, while Rangers’ spokesman said a paratrooper has also been injured.

The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, while conducting a search operation on tip-off at Phool Pati Lane area of Layari has killed three gangsters; according to a press release.

During the operation, an encounter took place when suspects saw the paramilitary forces they opened fire on them from the roofs of their hideouts. The rangers retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for from both sides in which three gangsters have been killed, two of them fled away and a paratrooper got injured.

The suspects were identified as Noor Muhammed alias Baba Ladla, Sinkander alias Sikoo and Yaseen alias Mama, one hand grenade, a 9MM pistol and a mouser were recovered from the possession of the suspects.

The Rangers informed in the press release that Noor Muhammed alias Baba Ladla was involved in 74 different criminal cases and was one of the most wanted criminals carrying a head money of Rs 2.5 million announced by the police.

Ladla was the leader of one the section of ‘Lyari Gang War’ and had spread terror and fear in the locality as he was operating several torture cells.

He was once the aide of Uzer Baloch and later parted his ways from him after the death of Key figure of Aman Committee Leader Zafar Baloch, in September 2013, he has also been claimed to be killed in 2014 and 2015 as well.

In April 2012, Baba Ladla attacked a police party and the murdered two police constables namely Tufail and Fiaz.

He along with Uzair Baloch had killed other leaders of Liyari Gang (who were said to be their contenders) including Arshad Pappu, Yasir Arafat and Shera Pathan. They had desecrated and set their bodies on fire after killing and torturing them.

He was involved in the kidnapping murder and torturing of people along with his companions, and was nominated in 9 murder cases in various incidents from 2010 to 2013.

Sikander alias Sikoo was close aide of Baba Ladla who was also wanted in 15 police cases, he was an illegal weapon seller, a criminal facilitator and had murdered 3 policemen.

Yaaseen Mama, was said to be the right hand of Ladla, was also involved in the cases of kidnapping, drug peddling and attacking the police.

The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh said in a statement “youngsters who are involved in crimes or supporting the criminal activities should learn a lesson from the example from the extinction of Baba Ladla Group”.
