Admiral Zafar launches Spring Tree Planting Campaign 2018 at Navy Headquarters

Published on: February 9, 2018 6:43 PM

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi planted a sapling at Naval Headquarters to commence the Spring Tree Planting Campaign 2018 on Friday.

Speaking on occasion, Admiral Zafar said that plantation of trees provides us with a unique opportunity to strengthen relationship with the nature. The Admiral added that Pakistan’s Naval forces aim to conduct large scale plantations from the Naval base in Jiwani to Sir Creek.

CNS also requested the people of Pakistan to plant a tree each to ensure provision of a healthier and sustainable environment to the country’s future generations.

Earlier today, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also planted a sapling at the PM Office, while he also encouraged people from various walks of life to participate in the campaign which is part of Green Pakistan Program.

The PM also confirmed that Capital Development Authority (CDA) would also take part in the countrywide campaign and will collaborate with non-government organisations, schools, colleges and universities to promote the need for a cleaner environment.

According to the Green Pakistan Program, the country from a period of 2016-2021, aims to plant 100 million saplings, which would cost a total of Rs. 3.652.
