Zayn Malik slams ‘stalkers’ after Manchester hotel incident

Published on: May 26, 2026 3:49 PM

Zayn Malik has responded strongly after a chaotic scene outside his Manchester hotel sparked online debate about his behaviour toward fans and photographers. The singer faced criticism after a video captured him angrily shouting while attempting to reach a waiting vehicle through a tightly packed crowd. However, Malik later clarified that his frustration was directed at aggressive individuals blocking exits rather than genuine supporters gathered outside the hotel.

The tense encounter unfolded when Malik tried leaving the hotel while surrounded by paparazzi, security personnel, and a growing crowd in Manchester. During the incident, the singer shouted for people to move aside as he struggled to enter his vehicle safely. The footage quickly spread online, with several social media users claiming the former One Direction star had lost patience and reacted harshly toward fans waiting nearby for a glimpse of the singer.

Soon afterward, Malik publicly addressed the situation and defended the behaviour of his supporters while criticizing what he described as dangerous stalking tactics. He explained that fans remained respectful throughout the encounter and insisted the real problem involved several adult men allegedly blocking hotel entrances and preventing security teams from moving freely. According to Malik, the group created an unsafe atmosphere that escalated tensions and disrupted efforts to leave the crowded location peacefully.

Furthermore, the Pillowtalk singer drew a sharp distinction between loyal fans and individuals he accused of following celebrities solely to capture dramatic online content. Malik claimed these people repeatedly appear outside hotels, events, and private locations to provoke reactions from public figures for viral videos. He argued that such behaviour damages genuine fan interactions while also raising serious concerns regarding safety, personal boundaries, and privacy for artists constantly facing public attention.

The incident comes only days after another uncomfortable moment involving Malik during a public Q&A session at Banquet Records in Kingston, England. During the appearance, two water bottles were reportedly thrown toward the stage while the singer addressed attendees. Consequently, the recent string of unsettling encounters has intensified conversations online about celebrity security, fan culture, and the increasing pressure public figures face during personal appearances and promotional events.
