Multiple US jets crash in Kuwait amid rising Gulf tensions

Published on: March 2, 2026 2:48 PM

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that several US military aircraft crashed earlier on Monday, prompting immediate deployment of search-and-rescue teams to the crash sites. All crew members were safely evacuated and transported to hospitals for medical evaluation. Officials reported that the personnel are in stable condition, while investigations have been launched to determine the causes behind the incidents. The ministry emphasized close coordination with US forces for a thorough assessment.

Authorities said joint technical teams are actively examining the crashes to establish circumstances and take necessary corrective measures. Kuwaiti officials urged the public and media to rely solely on verified sources to avoid misinformation. Videos circulating on social media reportedly showed a fighter jet crashing and a pilot parachuting to safety, which aligns with initial observations on the ground. Security forces continue to monitor the affected areas to prevent further hazards.

The crashes occurred amid escalating tensions in the Gulf following consecutive days of Iranian attacks. Air raid sirens were reportedly heard across Kuwait, reflecting the heightened threat of missile and UAV strikes in response to US and Israeli operations that killed Iran’s supreme leader and other senior officials. Black smoke was seen near key installations, including the US Embassy, although it did not confirm being directly targeted.

The US Embassy issued a security alert warning residents to avoid its vicinity, stating that staff were sheltering in place due to ongoing threats. Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Interior Ministry confirmed intercepting several drones targeting the country at dawn. Regional authorities reported that the Iranian attacks have resulted in five casualties across the Gulf so far, including one death in Kuwait, highlighting the intensifying regional crisis.

Iranian state media claimed that its air defense successfully hit a US F-15 fighter jet for allegedly violating its airspace, causing it to crash in Kuwait. The Iranian military also reported targeting the US Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and naval vessels in the northern Indian Ocean. Authorities said 15 cruise missiles were used in these attacks, demonstrating a significant escalation in military operations.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether technical issues or hostile action caused the crashes. Both Kuwaiti and US officials continue to coordinate for recovery, safety, and security measures while monitoring regional developments closely. The situation remains volatile, and officials have urged citizens to follow updates from official channels.
