Complete shutdown was being observed on Wednesday (today) against the conviction of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, by an Indian kangaroo court in a concocted case. According to Kashmir Media Service, the shutdown was being observed despite stern warning to traders, shopkeepers and transporters by the Indian authorities against closing their businesses.
The occupation authorities have deployed Indian troops, paramilitary and police personnel in strengths across the territory to prevent people from holding demonstrations against the court verdict. The forces’ personnel are patrolling several parts of Srinagar city to force the people remain in their homes. The JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik was convicted by a court of India’s notorious National Investigation Agency on Thursday in manifestly dubious and motivated cases registered against him over three decades ago. Yasin Malik and many other Hurriyat leaders have been illegally detained by India in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail for the past several years.
The dreaded NIA court had also formally framed fake charges against Hurriyat leaders including Masarrat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Syed Salahuddin, Raja Meraajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, and businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali. Meanwhile, Indian police raided houses of APHC leaders and activists including chairman of Democratic Hurriyat Front (DHF) Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal in Kupwara district. The forces’ personnel harassed the parents of the DHP leader and other family members and snatched away their mobile phones.
JKLFN presents memorandum to Indian HC regarding atrocities in IIOJK: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Nazriyati (JKLFN) here on Wednesday presented a memorandum to Indian High Commissioner expressing resentment over framing a fabricated case against pro-freedom leader Yasin Malik. In the memorandum, JKLFN invoked the attention of Indian government towards brutalities of Indian forces and gross violation of human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“Muhammad Yasin Malik is a political activist of State of JK, which according to International Law, is a disputed territory between India and Pakistan”, JKLFN stated, further highlighting, “United Nations allows people of JK for any kind of struggle for their right to self-determination till plebiscite”. The party further reiterated that the JKLF leader had no connection with terror activities and was being convicted by NIA on false allegations. Condemning the decision of the Indian court, JKLFN warned of resistance and demonstrations by Kashmiris all over the world against the unjust trial and judicial victimization of JKLF leader Yasin.
