Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar while announcing to participate in the next general elections has said that the biggest beneficiary of opposition’s split is the PTI government. He was talking to media after inaugurating the Filtration Plant installed by Friends of Lahore’s at the Governor House, Lahore on Friday. Anwar A Ghani, Political Secretary to Governor Punjab, Mian Kashif Iqbal among others was also present on the occasion. Chaudhry Sarwar stated that the opposition cannot bring ‘no confidence motion’ against the government no matter how hard it tries. He said he returned to Pakistan to take part in active politics but Prime Minister Imran Khan had appointed him as Punjab Governor, adding that and he has been discharging his duties as a Governor as per the party’s leadership decision, but in coming elections, he would be actively be participating in the politics. He said that opposition’s threats regarding ‘No Confidence Movement were mere words and the government would complete its tenure and elections would be held in 2023. Answering a question, he said PML-Q is our ally and they are with us for country’s prosperity and progress, and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has never talked about overthrowing federal or provincial governments, adding that their reservations will be addressed and they will be taken on board on all matters. While commenting on the issue of permitting PML-N leaders to go abroad, Governor Punjab stated that this was a matter to be handled by the federal government and Interior Ministry so he would not comment on this matter.
